EO Systems

Quantum Technology designs and manufactures Electro-Optical Modulation Systems for modulating laser beams with the highest degree of efficiency. These systems are available with full accessories to accommodate turnkey applications by interfacing to existing laser systems without additional electronics. They feature the highest bandwidths commercially available, broad optical range from UV to Mid-IR, fast rise and fall times, continuously adjustable gain, high optical power handling capability, and completely automatic operation. Four standard EO modulator systems are offered:

1) Model HVA-100K (DC to 250 KHz)
2)Model 3030C (DC-10MHz)
3) Model 3030 (DC to 30 MHz)
4) Model 3100 (DC to 100 MHz)
5) Model 3101 (1 MHz to 1000 MHz)

These drivers can be matched and mated with Quantum's large variety of EO modulators (View Informational Photographs) to span a wide range of applications.

These systems employ state of the art RF MOS FET circuit technology. There are many unique design features such as field replaceable plug-in cards for easy and quick upgrades, for uses that include pulse picker timing, cavity dumping and regenerative seeding, and high voltage high speed switching and laser noise suppression. The system integration is done through a common back plane. There are many options such as Auto Bias Controls, either Sampled, Continuous or DRAW. A variety of optical accessories are also available. The outstanding advantage is that QTI has unique expertise in the growth of crystals of ADP, and KD*P that are grown as well as fabricated in Quantum's laboratory to exacting specifications for designing modulators. Quantum is the ONLY company with this total capability from crystal growth to engineering design and systems manufacturing.

Model 307 Noise Eater system is a broadband electro-optic feedback loop designed to improve the amplitude stability of visible lasers.

Models 40 and 41 are EO beam deflectors that can be utilized with the HVA-100K driver in the following application: facet-to-facet correction of polygonal spinners, video disc mastering, and high-speed streak recording.

The modulators in the following table are available with 50 ohm or 100 ohm impedance. For example, 12-50 is a 50 ohm device and 12-100 is a 100 ohm device.
